NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - New security measures could soon be coming to downtown Nashville.
The Music City is among four cities statewide to receive the Downtown Public Safety Grant.
“All of us deserve to be safe,” Metro Councilman Jordan Huffman said. “This is about governance, its not about politics.”
He is one of the councilmembers sponsoring a resolution that outlines how the Nashville Downtown Partnership can use the money.
The current plans call for upgraded surveillance cameras, lighting, noise detection system, safety ambassadors, a command post and armored vehicle for police to use during large-scale events.
“Public safety is a priority, and that’s not to dismiss anyone’s concerns, by any means, but we have to keep our people safe, and that is everyone,” Huffman said.
