NORMAN, Okla. —
For 18 years, the Downs family in Norman, Oklahoma, has been putting up an elaborate Christmas light display, not just for holiday cheer but to support the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma through donations.
"I know there’s about 22 miles of extension cords and 18 miles of lights on the whole thing,” said Chuck and Kimberli Downs, the property owners. Advertisement
The display is so bright that it almost requires sunglasses after sunset, with the big trees alone adorned with two and a half miles of lights.
The Downs family starts assembling the display in early October, working a few hours every day until it is ready before Thanksgiving.
"He does crawl into bed every night with back pain, so we’re wondering how many years we can keep this up, but we’re having grandchild
