KENT COUNTY, MI — The conversation regarding a potential data center in Lowell Township had a rough start Tuesday night, with several people saying local officials are rushing the process.

The city of Lowell hosted the first of two planned open houses Tuesday, Dec. 2, at City Hall at 301 E. Main St. SE, just a week before the township planning commission is set to host a public hearing for a rezoning that would make way for the data center.

The event was meant to be an informal conversation to educate residents about the early stages of the project, but as dozens of residents milled into the crowded city hall chamber it became difficult to hear what anybody had to say.
