NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The people have spoken: Matt Van Epps will be filling Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District seat left vacant by former Rep. Mark Green.
NBC News and the Associated Press project that Republican Van Epps will defeat Rep. Aftyn Behn (D-Nashville) to represent the 7th Congressional District, which spans 14 Tennessee counties.
“This race was bigger than just one campaign,” said newly elected U.S. Representative Matt Van Epps. “It represented a defining moment for Tennessee and for the direction of the country.”
The polls in the district closed at 7 p.m. CT.
