Memphis Grizzlies big man Zach Edey plays an old-school type of game. Standing at a towering 7-foot-4, it’s hard to move him outside the painted area. Unfortunately, some players resort to illegal tactics, like when Nuggets star Nikola Jokic inadvertently hit Edey on the head near the basket.
For the Grizzlies, the 23-year-old has been vital in their recent surge in the Western Conference standings. He’s been a beast down the block, averaging 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game this season.
But against the San Antonio Spurs, Edey was called for his third foul just after a few minutes had gone by in the second quarter, after a tie-up with Jeremy Sochan.
