CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Wake County Board of Education has a new member. Jennifer Job was officially sworn in Tuesday night to fill the District 8 seat previously held by Lindsay Mahaffey, who resigned in August to spend more time with her family.

Job, who has a doctorate in education, will serve on the board through at least 2028.

Job has spent much of her career in education, including work as a teacher education professor at Oklahoma State University and teaching in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro district.

She said some of her early priorities on the board will include strengthening special education services, closing the achievement gap, and developing an AI framework to help students and teachers adapt to new technology.
