(KBTX) - Texas A&M will most likely get to host a first-round game in the 2025 College Football Playoff, but it won’t be a favorable matchup.
After a 27-17 loss to then No. 16 Texas on Friday, the Aggies (11-1) tumbled four places to No. 7 in the second-to-last rankings. Falling past No. 6 means the Aggies will face a true at-large team in the first round of the playoffs and neither the highest-ranked Group of Five champion nor the Atlantic Coast Conference champion. Per playoff rules, both of those champions will earn automatic berths despite being outside the top 12.
In Saturday’s projected bracket, the Aggies were paired against No. 10 Notre Dame (10-2), a rematch of the Aggies’ third victory of the season. Depending on how the conference championship games shake out, No. 8 Oklahoma (
