The specialty candle store’s parent company, Newell Brands, announced Monday it would close 20 locations nationwide , and layoff hundreds of employees.

The closures come as the company announced its “global productivity plan,” with the closures set to take effect next year, according to the company.

When are employees getting laid off?

U.S. layoffs will occur in December, just as the holiday shopping season is ramping up for retailers.

The company plans to layoff 900 members of its workforce, mostly in professional and clerical positions.

International layoffs are also forecasted for the next year.
