Police in Blantyre have confirmed that a man who was injured after being hit by an electric wire in Makata was attempting to steal an electric cable valued at K2,476,530.

Blantyre Police Deputy Spokesperson Doris Mwitha said that the man has been identified as 27-year-old Madalitso Samson from Sajali Village, TA Ganya in Ntcheu.

“It is true that we, the Blantyre Police, received a report of the accident this morning, and when we rushed to the scene we found the suspect injured. We have taken him to Gulupu Hospital, where he is receiving treatment,” Mwitha said.

She explained that the accident occurred near Sharma Company in Makata while Samson and his accomplices were attempting to cut and steal a 120-meter 3-core electric cable.
