NJ Transit’s chief of human resources was suspended without pay last week and escorted out by security, NorthJersey.com has learned.
Joel Gokool, who has worked at NJ Transit on two occasions in 2021 and 2024, was the impacted employee.
After a complaint was reported to the Office of General Counsel — and “due to the position of the employee” — the agency hired independent outside counsel to launch a comprehensive review, said NJ Transit spokesman John Chartier in an emailed statement.
“Within hours of NJ Transit being informed of additional complaints, the employee who was hired in 2024 was suspended without pay pending the conclusion of that review,” Chartier said. “This action was taken in direct response to allegations of potential violations of NJ Transit’s corporate-wide policies
