Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan presented his namesake award during a visit to the North Jersey hospital where he was treated for life-threatening injuries more than a decade ago.
The "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock" star honored Gilbert Recto, an assistant nurse manager on the brain trauma unit at Hackensack Meridian JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, with the Tracy Morgan Award for Rehabilitation Nursing Excellence at the center in Edison Dec. 2. Morgan thanked Recto and the entire hospital staff for their efforts to help patients resume normal lives as they recover from severe injuries.
"You are angels. Only angels can do what you do," Morgan said. "You put your own lives aside every day and help other people. I love you all for that."
