Birmingham City Council's bins chief has pledged the city council is pressing on with controversial changes to its waste service, despite the long running bin strike.
Coun Majid Mahmood said the changes would be coming in next year, with or without the cooperation of striking workers.
He urged an end to the dispute, adding that every single bins worker affected had now resolved their individual issues with the council and either accepted a new role, left voluntarily or, in three cases, been subject to compulsory redundancy.

Given that, he said he was 'struggling to understand' why the strike was now continuing.
That triggered a fierce response from the bins union
