They call it an inauguration these days. Fayetteville City Council members elected in November were officially sworn in Monday, Dec. 1, to start their two-year terms.
They were joined by family members, friends, campaign supporters, their fellow politicians and other leaders in a well-handled and comfortable ceremony in Seabrook Auditorium at Fayetteville State University, which started just after 6 p.m. Monday. Mary Catherine Burke, artistic director of the Cape Fear Regional Theatre, served as master of ceremonies, and to my eye, did a graceful job of directing all the parties on stage.
