Six distinguished alumni were honored on Nov. 13 by the Highland Community College Foundation during an event at the Freeport Club, according to a community announcement.

The annual recognition, now in its 29th year, celebrates individuals who began their academic journeys at the college and have demonstrated leadership and commitment to their communities, according to a community announcement. To date, more than 160 individuals have been named distinguished alumni.

"The stories shared by our honorees remind us of the power of education, service and perseverance," said Dan Dick, executive director of the Highland Community College Foundation. "Each recipient has 2made a tremendous impact—individually, personally and professionally—throughout their community."
