GRIFFITHSVILLE — For their family's first choose-and-cut Christmas tree experience, Hunter and Brianna Holland made a 75-minute drive Tuesday to Wilkerson Christmas Tree Farm at Griffithsville, Lincoln County, where they chose and cut a 12-foot white pine to decorate their Wayne County home.
"We were planning to get a 7-foot tree, but I guess I wasn't great at judging heights," Brianna Holland said. "We can cut it down some, if we need to."
The Hollands made the road trip to the 20-acre Christmas tree operation with their sons, 5-month-old Forrest, and 2-year-old Jameson, who teamed up with his dad to saw down their plus-sized pine.
For the Hollands, the drive from Wayne to southwestern West Virginia's last remaining cut-your-own Christmas tree operation was worth the effort.
