RACHEL Reeves belongs in “la la land” over her misleading claims about the Budget, Keir Starmer has been told.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch asked the Prime Minister why the Chancellor remained in a job as she accused him of hiking taxes and scrapping the two-child benefit cap “to save his own skin”.

Starmer defended Reeves, who is facing pressure from all sides to step down after it emerged she had misled the public over claims about a revenue shortfall in the lead-up to the Budget and the head of the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) resigned.

Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday, Badenoch said: “No-one believes a word that the Prime Minister says. We now know the black hole was fake, [Reeves’s] book was fake, her CV was fake, even her chess claims are made up.
