ARCADIA, Fla. (WWSB) - A 21-year-old DeSoto County man is charged with murder after a shooting Tuesday in Arcadia, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting near SW Stroud Street, where they found a person shot to death.
Within a few hours, the subject and vehicle involved was identified, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies believe the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Joel Elias Herrera-Godinez, called the victim on the phone to meet outside, then shot the victim with a 9mm handgun before fleeing.
Herrera-Godinez was found at his father’s home and placed under arrest, deputies said.
The investigation is continuing.
