Police in Connecticut continue to investigate a standoff with officers that left one man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Stamford police responded to a home on Oaklawn Avenue on Tuesday, where a lengthy standoff began. Authorities have not released why they were called to the house.
As officers approached the home, the man inside began firing at their vehicle and later “exchanged gunfire” with officers, authorities said.
In a video taken near the scene, more than a dozen shots can be heard ringing out.
Later that evening, police said the man had died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Stamford police said they closed Oaklawn Avenue from Dann Drive to Dartley Street as they processed the scene. The area remained closed Wednesday morning.
Authorities have not identified the shooter or explained why they were at the home.
