Ritz cracker sandwiches sold in eight states, including New York state, are under recall due to a labeling error.
Mondelēz Global LLC announced a voluntary recall of 70 cases of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration .
The affected cartons include individually wrapped packs that may be incorrectly labeled as cheese variety, even though the product may be a peanut butter variety, the FDA notice stated.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product, according to the notice.
All outer cartons affected are labeled correctly and provide an allergen advisory statement indicating that the product contains peanuts.
