HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley is warning of an influx of scam callers pretending to be deputies.

Haley said the scammers claim to work for the sheriff’s office and request money for various reasons.

The sheriff’s office has received multiple complaints about the calls this week.

Sheriff Haley said deputies will not request money over the phone or through electronic platforms.

“If you are contacted and need to verify information, please reach out to us, and do not send the requested money,” Haley said in a statement.

If you received a scam call, you are urged to report it by calling 228-865-7060.
