LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport released more details about the immediate aftermath of the tragic UPS plane crash that killed 14 people and injured several others.

Dan Mann, the executive director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, said the crash closed the runway, grounded five departures and diverted 16 arrivals.

The airfield partially reopened 11 hours after the crash and after lengthy coordination with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), UPS and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

Mann said finding out what happened took priority over opening the airfield.

"First mission is we have to find out what happened here," he said in front of state lawmakers on Tuesday. "But secondly, we do still have an airfield.
