Prosecutors continue to make their case that Brian Walshe killed and dismembered his wife of eight years at their Massachusetts home. However, the body of Ana Walshe, the mother of Brian's three young boys, has never been recovered.
The testimony on Tuesday, Dec. 2, the second day of the trial, focused on what investigators found on Walshe’s laptop in the days leading up to her disappearance on Jan. 1, 2023, according to CNN.
Massachusetts State Police Trooper Nicholas Guarino told jurors that Walshe viewed a video about a “cheating wife” on his laptop, also called cuckold pornography. Guarino testified that the clip was seen three days before Ana disappeared from their Cohasset home, the report said.
Authorities alleged that Ana was involved in an extramarital affair with a man in Washington, DC, where she worked as general manager for real estate company Tishman Speyer. Prosecutors believe that "dalliance" fueled Brian's anger and attack on his wife, CNN reported.
Police argue Brian also had a monetary incentive to kill his wife, as he is the sole beneficiary of a $2.7 million insurance policy, authorities have said.
But defense attorney Larry Tipton pushed back. He told jurors that Walshe and Ana “were deeply in love and devoted to their sons," CNBC reported. Tipton suggested the person watching the explicit video may have been looking for their preferred “mattress actress,” not pornography about cheating.
Guarino also walked the jury through a long list of online searches made in the days after Ana vanished. Per CNN, some of those searches included:
- "Can you be charge with murder without a body"
- “best way to dispose of a body,”
- “how long before body starts to smell,”
- "Can identification be made on partial human remains"
- "Can I use bleach to clean my wood floors from blood stains"
He also looked up serial killer Patrick Kearney, known as the “trash-bag killer.”
Prosecutors said Brian Walshe later admitted to police that he disposed of Ana's body, but he adamantly denies killing her.
Walshe faces a first-degree murder charge. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
