VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — Van Zandt County Pct. 1 Commissioner Mitch Curtis has been arrested for accusations of official oppression and impersonating a public servant.

Jail records show that Curtis was arrested Wednesday around 8:49 a.m. on charges of official oppression and impersonation of a public servant. These alleged incidents happened on June 7.

Indictments obtained by CBS19 show Curtis impersonated a police officer in an attempt to make another man stop firing guns on his property. The other indictment states Curtis acted under the color of his office to impede the man's ability to exercise or enjoy his right to fire guns on his private property.

Van Zandt County Sheriff Kevin Bridger said the Texas Rangers investigated Curtis' case regarding the allegations. Bridger said that
