Oklahoma's attorney general accused his state's governor of being "bought and paid for by out-of-state Big Poultry corporations" in their ongoing dispute about pollution of the Illinois River by chicken litter from Northwest Arkansas.
"Your actions speak louder than words: You are bought and paid for by out-of-state Big Poultry corporations," Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond wrote in a letter sent to Gov. Kevin Stitt on Tuesday. "These companies have poured money into your political campaigns, and now you are doing their bidding -- seeking a sweetheart deal that puts their profits ahead of Oklahoma's people, our farmers, and our land. I will not stand by and let that happen."
Stitt's office was contacted for comment Wednesday morning, but has not replied yet.
