Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. is married, he announced on social media Tuesday night.

"I'm honored to share a piece of joyful news from my personal life," Scott wrote. "Some time ago, I asked the woman I love to marry me, and she graciously said yes. We chose to hold that moment close and simply enjoy the blessing of this new chapter."

He and Natalie Wesley, 40, completed the "formal step" of obtaining their marriage license on Monday.

"As we continue forward together, we are deeply thankful for the kindness, encouragement, and respect for our privacy that our family and close friends have shown," Scott wrote in a Facebook post that included a photo of him and Wesley together. "This is a beautiful season for us, and we're blessed to share it with our Little Rock community."
