Once a retail titan rivaling Amazon, Walmart, and Target, Sears is now down to just five locations nationwide—and only one is in California. The question on everyone’s mind: Will Sears make it to Christmas 2026?

Industry experts say the odds aren’t good.

“With other brick-and-mortar and online retailers offering better product selection, location advantages, and convenience, Sears just can’t compete anymore,” said Dan Hamilton Rice, a retail analyst and professor at Louisiana State University.
