KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Zoo Knoxville recently made the announcement of the birth of a baby gorilla. WVLT got to take a closer look at the life of the newborn.
“So the baby is doing really well. Kumi is being a great mom. She’s never really letting the baby down,” said Great Ape Keeper Crystal Mugan. “She’s never letting it out of her sight, which is what a gorilla mom is supposed to do. They’re just hands-on, 24-7, and that’s what Kumi is doing. The baby is thriving well. We’ve seen multiple nursing sessions.”
Zoo Knoxville is all about taking the hands-off approach when it comes to taking care of their residents.
“So we are totally hands-off unless we need to be, which luckily we have not needed to be because Kumi is so great, like I said. But she is being a great mom. She’s taking
