KENT COUNTY, MI — Residents are suspicious of a potential big data company coming to Lowell Township, but with no formal plans and no name behind the project, there’s little to go on.
The city of Lowell on Tuesday, Dec. 2, hosted the first of two planned open houses to discuss a potential data center at Covenant Park, a 237-acre industrial parcel at 4687 Alden Nash Ave. SE in Lowell Township.
For many residents it was the first time they had ever heard of the project, but plans to redevelop the site had been discussed years before data centers and artificial intelligence became household topics.
About four years ago, Franklin Partners was recruited by The Right Place, a regional economic development group, and local officials to consider potential industrial tenants for Covenant Park,
