SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A Northwest Iowa man was sentenced in federal court on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Sixty-six-year-old Timothy Koons of Sioux City was sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to distribution of methamphetamine on Thursday, April 10.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, evidence presented at both the plea and sentencing hearings showed Koons was involved in the distribution of seven ounces of pure methamphetamine to others, including one person who was cooperating with law enforcement on two separate occasions in March 2024.

Koons was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison. He was also ordered to serve a four-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
