Jana Sallman scored 17 points off the bench and Natalie Fox added 16 points and seven rebounds as William & Mary knocked off previously unbeaten Wake Forest 67-64 in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
It was the Tribe’s first victory over a Power Four program in 10 years and first ever against Wake Forest.
Monet Dance and Dynasti Pierce each added 10 points for W&M (3-4), which took command with a 28-9 advantage in the second quarter and led 42-23 at the half. Wake Forest trailed by as many as 25 in the third quarter, but stormed back to make it close at the end.
Tribe head coach Erin Dickerson Davis and associate head coach Dane Sparrow were both assistants at Wake Forest before coming to W&M
