BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — A police dog hurt while chasing a convicted sex offender last month is back on duty.
Buckeye Police K-9 Echo, who has served nearly three years with the department, lost a front tooth and chipped a canine while trying to capture 48-year-old Adrian Villareal on Nov. 21.
Police responded to Baseline and Pima roads , just west of Apache Road, for reports of Villareal following a 12-year-old girl as she was walking to a bus stop.
Workers at a nearby daycare safely pulled the girl into the building before officers arrived.
