GREENVILLE, S.C. —

Deputies in Greenville County are investigating an "incident" that prompted a temporary shutdown of a section of Augusta Road.

Just after 1:50 p.m., the South Greenville Fire Department responded to a call of what appeared to be a possible crash.

When crews arrived, they found a vehicle stationary off the side of Augusta Road.

According to deputies, a person was found inside the vehicle with injuries that were reported as a possible gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to the hospital by EMS for further evaluation. Their condition is not known at this time.

All lanes of Augusta Road from Bracken Road to Matrix Parkway are temporarily closed as deputies investigate. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the roadway is reopened.
