WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WFSB) - With temperatures expected to drop into the single digits Friday morning and remain below freezing all day, Connecticut plumbers are preparing for an influx of frozen pipe calls.

Aiello Home Services, which has served Connecticut for over 90 years, receives calls every year when frigid weather returns. Matthew Ceperley, a plumber with the company, said Friday’s cold snap will be severe enough to freeze pipes.

“Usually, it has to be consistent below 32 degrees for a few hours around the piping area, so usually outside is in the 20s,” Ceperley said.

The biggest indicator of frozen pipes is no water coming from faucets. If homeowners notice water has stopped running, Ceperley recommends immediate action.
