A historic law firm in Newcastle has closed suddenly with the loss of a number of jobs, it is understood. Samuel Phillips Law, which has offices in the city centre, is believed to have closed at the end of last week.
A number of current and former employees of the firm have taken to social media to reveal the closure of the firm, which dates back to 1919. The firm was for many years based at the bottom of Westgate Road in premises sold a few years ago to pub chain Wetherspoon .
