A homeless man who police say started a violent fight that left him dead and two others hospitalized has been identified in Virginia.
Officers were called to the 200 block of North Glebe Road in the Ashton Heights neighborhood at around 5:11 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at approximately for a report of an assault with injury, according to the Arlington County Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found two men outside a business suffering from multiple lacerations and immediately began rendering aid, police said.
Responding officers then canvassed the area and found another adult man dead inside the building.
According to police, based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed Alexander Diaz Chavez, 32, who has no fixed address, initiated the assault and was the primary aggressor.
Detectives also noted there were “several knives” recovered during the investigation. Police said there are no outstanding suspects.

According to police, he “sustained multiple sharp-forced injuries during the incident,” and his official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Police said one of the injured men has since been released from the hospital and “is expected to make a full recovery.” The second man “remains hospitalized and is in stable condition.”
According to the department, detectives “continue to investigate the circumstances that preceded the stabbing.”
