After letting a special morning game slip away against the Bloomington Bison on Wednesday, the Toledo Walleye finished the first quarter of the ECHL season in a funk.
At the 18-game milestone, Toledo’s record sits at 9-5-4. The Walleye saw a 3-1 lead after two periods melt away into a 4-3 overtime loss before a crowd of 8,067, consisting primarily of vocal students, at the Huntington Center.
The Walleye remain in second place in the Central Division, five points behind idle Fort Wayne and tied with Bloomington (9-4-4) with 22 points. But the Walleye have struggled heading into the season’s second quarter, going 0-2-2 in their past four games.
