Fayetteville police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a deceased elderly woman whose body was left at a Raeford Road funeral home in May.

A news release said the request came from Detective Holly Vernon, a newly dedicated missing person investigator in the department's Homicide Unit.

The release said the woman’s body was left inside the locked funeral home sometime between May 15-19 by an unknown person. When workers discovered paperwork did not accompany the body, law enforcement was contacted. Foul play is not suspected, officials said.
