An engineer who challenged defence contractor Leonardo UK at an employment tribunal over sharing women’s toilets with transgender colleagues has had her discrimination claims dismissed.

Maria Kelly had alleged harassment, direct sex discrimination, and indirect sex discrimination, lodging a formal grievance with the company before taking the matter to tribunal.

The case was heard in Edinburgh in October, and employment judge Michelle Sutherland has now rejected all of Ms Kelly’s claims.

Ms Kelly said she believes the ruling “fundamentally misunderstands both the law and my case” and confirmed she intends to appeal the decision.
