PEACH COUNTY, Ga. — A man was sentenced on Monday for causing the death of an 84-year-old Byron woman .
The woman, Tilda Wilson, was driving on Eisenhower Parkway when Jonathan Scott Hooks, 35, crashed into her back in 2021.
Hooks pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle in the first degree, according to the Superior Court of Bibb County.
They said that he will serve a total of 15 years, with the first four years in confinement and the rest on probation.
Wilson was making a left turn onto the I-475 northbound ramp when Hooks was traveling west and hit her, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said.
Wilson was taken to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, where she later died, according to the sheriff's office.
They said that Hooks was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
