INDIAL TRAIL, N.C. – A woman was killed in a house fire in Indian Trail on Wednesday morning, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 6:45 a.m., firefighters responded to Short Cut Lane near Old Monroe Road in Indian Trail to battle a house fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire that was contained in the home’s kitchen. During the response, firefighters located a woman dead inside the home, deputies said.

The cause of the fire and the nature of the victim’s death is still under investigation.
