TUNICA COUNTY, Miss. (WMC) - An 82-year-old woman is behind bars and accused of murdering her 75-year-old boyfriend Tuesday in Tunica County.

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office says Mattie Crockett, of Sledge, Mississippi, is charged with murder and being held at the county jail on a $100,000 bond.

Her arrest stems from the shooting death of James Larry Jr., also of Sledge.

The sheriff’s office reports that Crockett made a 911 call reporting she had shot her boyfriend around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday from a home on Tibbs Road.

Larry was pronounced dead at the scene once first responders arrived.

Authorities say Crockett was taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries before her booking.

She appeared before a judge for her bond hearing Wednesday.
