ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. —
Firefighters and hazmat responded to a chemical leak at a water treatment plant in Anderson County, South Carolina.
Mitch Ellenburg, the general manager of the Belton-Honea Path Water Plant said crews detected a small chlorine leak around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Ellenburg said the leak came from a valve on the main cylinder at the plant on Filter Plant Road in Honea Path.
According to Ellenburg, there is no immediate threat to the public and evacuations are NOT necessary.
Anderson County Hazmat and the Friendship Fire Station responded. EMS is standing by as a precaution.
