The Attorney General’s Office have named the Charlestown Police Department officer who shot and injured a man last month in Charlestown.

Officer Jacob Sands shot a 23-year-old man who allegedly approached him with a knife following a high-speed chase that reached 90 mph, according to a news release from the Attorney General’s Office.

Christian Paquette is still receiving treatment for the gunshot wounds he received, according to the news release.

The incident began about 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 when a Charlestown police officer attempted to stop a speeding vehicle without license plates on Claremont Road, according to a previous release. Paquette initially refused to stop and drove away, leading officers on a chase before eventually stopping and fleeing on foot, the release said.
