, Neb. —
A recent study by Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety gave Nebraska a failing score for its traffic laws, or lack thereof.
"Nebraska has a lot of work to do," Advocates president Cathy Chase said Wednesday morning during a DC meeting.
Advocates was founded in 1989. The DC-based company is made up of consumer, medical, public health, law enforcement and insurance companies; their mission is calling lawmaking officials to action to get them to put more traffic safety laws in place.
This week, Advocates released their Traffic Safety Law Report Card for all U.S. states. Grades are based on whether states have laws on things such as texting and driving, impaired driving, seatbelts, car seats and more.
Final score options are "good," "caution," and "danger."
