EAST PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - City of East Peoria officials are warning the community about a security breach impacting a third-party program that the city uses for its emergency alert system.
The breach happened at an unspecified time and date, with officials only saying that it occurred “recently.” They said it happened as a result of a cyberattack by “an organized cybercriminal group.”
East Peoria officials said the City has been using OnSolve CodeRED, an emergency notification system, for years, especially within the city’s police, fire, public works and communications departments. East Peoria also uses the system to share information and events from City Hall, departments, EastSide Centre, special events and the Fon du Lac Park District.
