ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The City of Atlanta unveiled a new rapid rehousing development Wednesday, bringing officials closer to their goal of creating 500 rapid rehousing units by the end of the year.
From start to finish, the project took less than a year.
“On the pictures from the groundbreaking last year, the date was Dec. 19. And now, here we are on Dec. 3,” said Chatiqua Ellison, deputy chief housing officer.
200 units built with modular construction
The Waterworks Village development provides 200 rapid rehousing units on Green Street near West Midtown, but the units were not built there.
“These homes were built using modular construction, assembled in a factory in South Carolina, while our local team prepared the site,” said Darion Dunn, managing partner at Atlantic
