PUNTA GORDA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A 61-year-old man was arrested Dec. 2 after allegedly driving under the influence and crashing head-on into a school bus in a school zone during school hours.
Edwin Alberto Fernandez appeared to be under the influence of narcotics or an unknown substance, authorities reported. His condition was not consistent with injuries typically sustained in car accidents, and he was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

Fernandez’s passenger was also injured in the crash and taken to a hospital.
Investigators said multiple pill bottles were found in Fernandez’s possession, containing Oxycodone, Morphine, and Alprazolam/Xanax.
