KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
A Kansas City man admitted Wednesday to fraudulently securing more than $300,000 in federal pandemic relief funds.
Jarrell Curne, 36, pleaded guilty to wire fraud for obtaining a $312,500 Paycheck Protection Program loan in 2020, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Advertisement
Prosecutors said Curne claimed his company, Hustle Ova Everything Entertainment, had 100 employees and a $1.5 million payroll the year before the pandemic.
Investigators later learned the business had no employees or eligible payroll, and that Curne used the loan money for personal expenses.
The loan was approved within two days of his application.
Curne also falsely certified the funds were used for legitimate business purposes when seeking loan forgiveness.
He faces up to 20 years
