COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The cause of death for the man who spent years awaiting trial related to a mass shooting at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood 10 years ago has been revealed.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Robert Dear died of congestive heart failure, fluid overload and hypoxemia.

Dear died in federal custody, at the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners (USMCFP) Springfield, on November 22 at approximately 6:25 a.m.

Dear, 67, is accused of driving to the Planned Parenthood on Centennial Boulevard in Colorado Springs on Nov. 27, 2015, and shooting at those parked next to his truck, then forcing his way into the clinic.
