A large natural gas main leak on Spring Place Road has impacted travel in the area, Bradley County Fire and Rescue says.
Emergency crews, utility partners, and law enforcement are working between Durkee Road and Broomfield Road to secure the area while repair continues.
Authorities say there is no immediate threat to surrounding homes, but people nearby may notice the smell of natural gas.
"Travel in this section of Spring Place Road will be significantly hindered and may be temporarily restricted until the leak is controlled and the hazard fully mitigated," the rescue agency said.
Residents and drivers are urged to:
Avoid the area and use alternate routes
Follow instructions from emergency personnel on scene
Remain alert for changing traffic patterns and emergency vehicles.
